Character Name: Astronema
Age: 20s
Canon: Power Rangers in Space
Canon Point: the last episode, very specifically after Ecliptor turned to dust but before she got carried out of her ship
Character History: https://powerrangers.fandom.com/wiki/Karone
Canon Abilities: Sorcery; mostly flinging purple lightning, summoning things and creatures (she won't have any creatures to summon here unless she gets them here). Teleportation, at-will. When we first meet her, we immediately see her absorb a bolt of red power from a previous villain's staff into her hand, and convert it into her own purple before dissipating it into sparks... because she can. That's pretty unheard of before she just casually did it at a party for the sheer flex of it.
She can change her appearance as often as she changes her mind, although always with her base human appearance -- we never see her turn into another human entirely (not of her own power, anyway) or anything nonhuman. Basically, if you can get Melody Perkins to look like it with the right wardrobe and basic, not-monster makeup, she can do that to herself with the wave of a hand.
We do see her mind-control the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at one point, but it's the only time we see her do that. We also see her turn an enemy to stone... once. I'd say that since we see these abilities only once each, they take a lot of preparation of some sort and can't just be done on the fly.
There's also the time she uses her power like this, as a restraint. Her powers seems to work 'however' at any given moment, outside of the teleporting, zapping, summoning bits. Basically if it feels right, fits the vibe, and everyone's OOCly down with it, I let her do it.
We also see that she's a damn good shot with a bow, but we only see it the once on camera.
Hand to hand and staff fighting:

She can fight multiple Rangers and hold them off without even having to blast them.
The staff (Wrath Staff) can amplify the lightning she can fling off her hands and make it a lot stronger. Enough that a reflected blast from her own staff nearly killed her.

She's also pretty good with a sword:

(If it isn't clear, that was her being a troll, not clumsy.)

She also has a boomerang she throws with some ridiculous accuracy.

All Kerovan-born humans have an innate telekinetic power, and I suspect she makes use of hers with said boomerang (it does a lot more than go out and come right back) and possibly the archery because that was awfully accurate for something we don't see her do elsewhere.
The comics, which I only tap here and there as filler where there's blanks left by the show, show her using daggers a lot as a kid. So she's pretty good with those, too.
Another interesting thing we see her do as a one-off is when she forges a team of sentient beings (the psycho rangers) out of Dark Specter's life energy, in order to slowly weaken him as they fight the rangers. That's after her final brainwashing when she no longer has a single speck of loyalty or 'good'.
Note that her skills are entirely her sorcery, subterfuge, and her fighting/hunting abilities. While this does make her very powerful, she's not so good at... well, anything else. Like knowing how to pay a bill. Or make friends. Stuff that'll be more relevant in the day-to-day.
I mentioned subterfuge above: she manages to play Dark Specter like a fiddle after the final wave of brainwashing turns her 'full evil' and eliminates her loyalty to him. This doesn't make her a master manipulator, however; Dark Specter thought her loyalty intact and unquestionable... she was just smart enough to make use of that fact when it was no longer true. That said, she's good at playing people in general, in order to enact that trust game I'll be talking more about in her personality section.
Inventory: The Wrath Staff, her boomerang, the locket around her throat, and the 'cyborg' gear she's in at the end of the season, including that damn cranial implant. I'd say her normal outfit and armor are probably in whatever voidspace she seems to summon things from, along with some simple mundane stuff like towels. It's a collection she'll be adding to.
Option 2: You may instead choose words from the following list to expand upon as your personality section. Elaborate on what this word means to your character, specifically their thoughts about it. For Canon Characters, you can choose five words. For Original Characters, you will need to choose seven words. Keep the word count to 100-300 per choice.
List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.
Ability: Do you want your character to gain the ability of their court? (Delete the other two options.)
1) No, they will retain their canon abilities.

- Pride

- Child
The color of Ecliptor, not only the lines on his face and body, but the color of his power, including that which kept her ship halfway between dimensions / cloaked it. She's always going to associate green with her adoptive father, to one degree or another, consciously or subconsciously. That means both safety and danger at the same time, because while she trusted Ecliptor implicitly by the end, he wasn't always the devoted person he grew into over time, and their circumstances were never remotely safe. For either of them. No one was ever safe in the empire, not even Dark Specter himself, in the end.
Life in Dark Specter's empire was a constant struggle for power and leverage for his kidnapped human generals and a few of the more elevated monsters. Everyone was always vying for Dark Specter's favor, and terrified of it at the same time. A push and pull, each trying to trip everyone else around them, while the more clever were not entirely sure they wanted to 'win' after all.
For Astronema, winning was inevitable, downsides and all. Ecliptor raised her specifically to kill Rangers and to take over the empire, and not necessarily in that order. She began learning the steps for this dance before some of her rivals could walk.
(CW violence)
The first time I felt true pride was the first time I brought a shattered morpher back to Ecliptor. I had tracked this Ranger team down to a planet covered in thick jungle vegetation. They didn't know who I was, so all it took was to hold my arm and limp into sight for the whole group to start buzzing like a hive.
I ran off, they chased. I hid, they split up to look for me.
Never split up to look for someone. Idiots.
Yellow happened to find me first. Or rather, she walked under the tree I'd slipped up into while sufficiently far from her teammates. I fell on her back with both daggers. Her morph held, as expected; my blades didn't find a way in. But I wrapped my arms around her neck and squeezed, and squeezed, and squeezed. She couldn't yell, and I was silent, and she couldn't get the leverage to hit me properly with her weapon, although she tried. She tried a lot of things, ripping out my hair by the fistful, ripping off my cloak, unable to get a good enough grip to haul me off herself.
Her knees slowly gave out, and when she hit the ground I rolled her onto her back, slid a dagger up under the lip of her helmet, and put all my weight behind it.
I was still very small, but the morph is weaker there, right under the chin. I'd practiced this same move on a hundred different decoys over the years, but I hadn't anticipated how it would feel when the morph gave way and my knife slid into thrashing, screaming flesh.
Screaming. Then gurgling. Then quiet. It was a long knife.
I had to move fast, but I severed the morpher from her wrist and slipped away before her team could close in on the sounds. I knew better than to try for a second Ranger that day, but oh, I wanted to.
I had never felt pride like I did that day, approaching Ecliptor in my bloodied clothes, lifting the cut strap of a morpher to dangle between my fingers. Everything I'd worked for, coming to a point like the knives in my belt.
Say, do you trust me? Because you shouldn't. I'm going to move this way, and that way, and needle you, and prod you, until you don't. I'm poking you. I'm not quite touching you. Do you trust me? You shouldn't. You do anyway?
Well, damn.
I guess I'm going to be trustworthy, then. If you insist. If you haven't made yourself an exception.
Oh, you don't trust me?
This means I've won! And as soon as I decide I have something to gain from it, I'm going to thread this dagger right between your vertebrae, and step over your twitching corpse. It's just what you deserve, for not trusting me.
There are children in my locket.
One is a boy in red. The brother I barely remember, who Ecliptor told me had died, whose end I have fought to avenge all these years. The other is a girl in yellow, who I know was me, but... I feel no spark of recognition when I look at that face.
I can remember being her, but only dimly. I was very small, then. And life was much simpler, colorful and soft.
It's better that she stays in the locket, with the boy who isn't a little boy anymore. It's safer in there, for both of them and for both of us.
